Mark Todd Equestrian Rugs

When it comest to finding the best turnout rugs for your horse we are faced with many challenging questions.  Here we are going to try to answer some of your questions based on our experience.

Quality cheap Mark Todd Lightweight Turnout Rug
If you decided to select by price is it "an expensive horse rugs that last longer" or "cheap horse rugs – it doesn't matter if it rips"?  We have come to find that both these statements are not exactly true!

Expensive rugs, such as the incredible Fal Pro range are certainly built to last, but no rug, yet, is fully rip proof.  These rugs however are designed with much stronger more durable stitching and offer great waterproofing and warmth against the elements.  I personally am cautious of layering horse rugs (more straps and layers offer more means for an incident), so if you have a fine horse, who struggles with the elements and needs extra warmth, then these are great turnout rugs for you.  Equally, however, I am very partial to the Mark Todd Turnout range.  These rugs are certainly much cheaper (middle of the range priced horse rugs), but have an amazing fit on my warmbloods.

Quality Mark Todd Turnout RugsThe Mark Todd Turnout rugs, in my eyes, offer the best coverage of the horse with quick fastenings and great quality and warmth.  They have two levels of weight for warm horses and horses that feel the cold too.  I like that the tail guard is almost fully connected from top to bottom and is very deep giving great coverage, with the neck of the rug being low and wide ensuring no exposure of the chest.

If, however, you prefer cheaper budget horse rugs with the best possible quality, I have been very surprised by JHL rugs (Jumpers Horse Line) range.  I have just bought a medium weight turnout rug by JHL for my Spanish mare – who is extremely tough on her rugs.  The rug in my eyes doesn’t seem to surpass on quality in terms of strength, but I think instead where the cheaper rugs cut cost is on the rug filling/warmth.  This works well for my Spanish horse as she is hardy and always quite warm.  I then use this rug for my colder horses who need more warmth when changing seasons.
